FACE TO FACE

Not since 2011 have I done a face-to-face interview on camera. That was when I promoted my then-new cd GO BERZERK! Now 8 years later, I got the chance to sit down in front of the lens for another Q&A, and it was pretty damn cool.

I reached out to Scott Engel, the publicist for Guitar Tales With David Cohen, and he prompted David to give my music a listen and consider me for a sit-down. Glad that David agreed to it, and the results were great. Even if I do say so myself :)

His show has never had a "shredder" on there so I definitely raised the bar even before I played a note. Riverview Studios is a wonderful place, lots of cool vibes and the staff were more than accommodating. Set up my gear, warmed up and off we went. Felt very relaxed, like I was sitting in someone's living room and not on a sound stage. I tried real hard not to look into any camera (that's NOT easy!) but I pulled it off well. I won't spoil any details about the contents of the interview, but David asked me some great questions and I got to make some noise here and there.

Before the Q&A, I got to spend a bit of time walking around the town of Bordentown. Quaint little area, definitely very cool, has an antique-like vibe. But most stores are closed on Wednesdays?! I wanted to go to Record Collector and they were closed!! GAH! But I stopped in a small guitar repair store called Bordentown Guitar Rescue, was small but nice. Also had some mint chip ice cream at Vincent's Ice Cream. The whole place was like a small tribute to Vincent Van Gogh. And the walls were pink!

After the interview, I packed up shop, thanked everyone for their time and professionalism. One of the women who operated the cameras told me that I look like Steve Harris of Iron Maiden. I get that quite a bit which is cool. I told her to look up a pic of Geddy Lee and she freaked! Yes I even wore the shades too. Think she got the picture?

The interview is being edited, might be a little longer than most interviews on that show. Should be posted by the weekend or maybe Monday next week. While I have a hard time watching myself on film, I am confident you will like the clip.

At least my gear is funky and cool :)
